People tell me that this season so far has been quite bad for snow.  This confuses me a little as I have skied (nearly) every day this season and I think the snow has been good.  Of course, there hasn’t been huge amounts of snowfall, but there’s been enough.  A lot of snow was made at the beginning of the season that produced a durable base and since then we have had a few snowfalls to freshen it up.  The pistes have been in great condition. Off piste has been interesting.  Obstacles that would normally be hidden under metres of snow are not far below the surface so knowing where the rocks, gullies and roads are is an advantage.
There was another small top-up yesterday.  It snowed all day which meant the pistes were covered in bumps, made more challenging by the flat light.  You had no idea what was there until you hit it!  Fun!  And, fantastic for improving your balance. This morning, it was still drizzling in the valley but Hochfügen was above the cloud.  We went up early and made some tracks in the lovely new snow before I started teaching.  I took my camera, though sadly, the following photos are all I managed to get before the batteries ran out.

Inntal full of cloud – looking towards Innsbruck
Zillertal and Inntal full of cloud – looking towards Kufstein with the Wilder Kaiser in the distance
It was windy at the top while it was snowing
Nearly there…
