It went cold and the ski area started to make snow. The ski area opened, it snowed and the ski area continued to make snow. There was a huge cone of snow alongside every snow cannon on the valley run in Hochzillertal on Monday. The run hadn’t been pisted, but there was plenty of snow to ski it, so long as you avoided the massive piles 🙂
The cloud was coming and going all day. I was lucky to come around a corner to be faced by this view of Hamberg. Stunning!
So, the ski area is open but they’re still working on finishing things off. Kristall Hütte is a favourite hot chocolate stop. It also has some rooms where people stay overnight, and, in recent years, has built igloos to stay in. Here they are as work in progress…
